The functionality of the GNU Emacs editor provided by the Sun WorkShopTM integrated programming environment is similar to the GNU Emacs editor that you can start from a shell. Sun WorkShop adds a menu bar. For more information, see the online documentation available through the editor Help menu.
The GNU Emacs editor window has the following components:
Menu Bar (GNU Emacs Editor Window) | Provides commands for editing and some common Sun WorkShop operations. |
Display Pane | Displays the contents of the current file. |
Mode Line (GNU Emacs Editor Window) | Displays information about the current state of the buffer. |
Message area | Displays information about the current editing operation and error messages. |
