The functionality of the XEmacs editor provided by the Sun WorkShopTM integrated programming environment is similar to the XEmacs editor that you can start from a shell. Sun WorkShop adds a menu bar and a tool bar. For more information, see the online documentation available through the editor Help menu.
The XEmacs editor window has the following components:
| Menu Bar (XEmacs Editor Window) | Provides commands for editing and for some common Sun WorkShop operations. |
| Tool Bar (XEmacs Editor Window) | Provides easy access to the most common Sun WorkShop operations. |
| Display Pane | Displays the contents of the current file |
| Mode Line (XEmacs Editor Window) | Displays information about the current state of the buffer |
| Message area at the bottom of the window | Displays information about the current editing operation, error messages, and the name and operation of the selected tool bar button |
