Freezepointing stores a version of your files by creating a text file containing a list of SCCS deltas. To create the freezepoint file, Freezepointing recursively descends the workspace source hierarchy and identifies the most recently checked-in deltas in each SCCS history file. Freezepointing then creates the freezepoint file by storing the file names with a unique number identifying the file version. (See Creating a Freezepoint)

You can later use Freezepointing to recreate the source files using the information in the freezepoint file. By default, the recreated hierarchy does not contain any SCCS history files. It contains only the source files from the original hierarchy are created. You have the option of recreating TeamWare workspaces from the freezepoint file. You can extract the complete set of frozen files or a subset of the files. (See Recovering Files From a Freezepoint File)

You can configure TeamWare to create a freezepoint everytime certain transactions, like bringovers and putbacks are initiated or completed. (See Automatically Generating Freezepoints)

Note - Freezepointing only keeps a list of differences from an original hierarchy of files. You have to keep the workspace from which it was made, or a child or parent, to extract from a freezepoint file.
