DESCRIPTION
twversion formerly known as Version Tool, is a GUI tool for
the SCCS command set. It allows you to perform SCCS func-
tions using an interactive GUI. You can put files under
SCCS control, check in and check out files, and visually
peruse the history and contents of SCCS files at various
points in the file history. You can also use twversion to
execute Filemerge to compare the differences between
selected delta versions of a file. If you have more than
2000 files in a single directory under SCCS control using
Sun WorkShop TeamWare, you could experience problems. Subdi-
vide workspace directories for better performance.
To start twversion, type twversion on the command line.
ENVIRONMENT
You can set the following environment variable in conjunc-
tion with twversion.
VERTOOL_EDITOR_CMD
Allows you to specify a command which will
bring up a window with your favorite editor.
An example of a valid value for
VERTOOL_EDITOR_CMD is "cmdtool vi".
To set the VERTOOL_EDITOR_CMD environment variable for vi,
use the following command:
setenv VERTOOL_EDITOR_CMD "cmdtool vi"
Note that the editor specification (as well as other twver-
sion features) can also be customized using the View-
>Options menu. The editor defined in the Options window
takes precedence over the VERTOOL_EDITOR_CMD setting.
USAGE
The online Help system provides help messages in Help win-
dows for each twversion dialog box. To use the online Help
system, select Help from the twversion menu bar. Then select
TeamWare Windows->Versioning Windows, and select the area
for which you want help.
To display a list of SCCS commands started by twversion, the
results of the commands, or any errors from SCCS, use the
Command Output option from the View menu item.
