The functionality of the Vi editor provided by the Sun WorkShopTM programming environment is similar to the Vi editor that you can start from a shell. Sun WorkShop adds a menu bar, a tool bar, and the ability to reuse the Vi window. For more information, see the vi man page.
The Vi editor window contains the following components:
Menu Bar (Vi Editor Window) | Provides commands for opening and saving files, for accessing some common Sun WorkShop operations, for checking files into and out of source code control (SCCS), and for accessing the Help Menu. |
Tool Bar (Vi Editor Window) | Provides easy access to the most common Sun WorkShop operations. |
Display Pane | Displays the contents of the current file. |
Message area | Displays information about the current editing operation, the name and operation of the selected tool bar button, and the reusability state of the Vi editor window. |
Re-Usable Button | When selected, displays subsequently opened files in the Vi window that is already open. |
