The Collector generates a default experiment name, test.1.er.
To name your experiment something else:
![]() | Type a path (if you do not want it in the default directory) and a file name in the Experiment File Text Box. |
The name must end in .er to be accepted by the Collector.
Note - If you use the filename.1.er format for your experiment name, the Sampling Collector automatically increments the names of subsequent experiments by one--for example, my_test.1.er is followed by my_test.2.er, my_test.3.er, and so on.
Caution - Do not use rm to delete an experiment. The actual experiment information is stored in a hidden directory, .filename.n.er, which rm does not remove. To delete an experiment file, use the performance-tool utility er_rm(1), included with the Sampling Collector and Performance Analyzer. This utility will delete all files and directories associated with the experiment.
